About BSAC500
Though based in Montrose, the club has members from Arbroath in the South, to Aberdeen in the North. The branch was formed in 1973, with one of the founder members still actively diving today. Membership in the branch at present runs at just under 40 and we are always keen to attract new divers of all experiences.
As Branch 500 of the British Sub Aqua Club we enjoy all the benefits that come with being a part of the biggest diving club in the world. All our training follows the structured BSAC diver training programme, is taught by club instructors and since BSAC is not-for-profit it is a very cost-effective way of learning to dive. Although we all enjoy our diving, the social side of the club is just as important to us and we have nights out, barbecues at Catterline during the summer months and other group events.
The club undertakes a variety of different diving, but aims to be as inclusive as possible so club members of a broad range of abilities can enjoy our diving expeditions. Though diving trips are most frequent during the Summer months, there is diving available throughout the year to those who have plenty of warm clothing! Whether it’s scenic dives, wreck dives, underwater photography or wildlife spotting, we try to cater for a wide variety of tastes but ultimately safe, enjoyable diving, in a friendly club environment is what we’re all about!
