Club Trips
The Club organizes regular diving expeditions throughout the year to a variety of different locations in Scotland, the North of England and further afield. Some locations we have visited are; Ullapool and the Summer Isles, The Kyle of Lochalsh and Skye, Ardnamurchan, Oban, Kerrera, Mull and the surrounding area, Loch Fyne, The Clyde Estuary, the wrecks off the Moray Coast, Lunan Bay, The Bell Rock, Bass Rock, The Isle of May, The Farne Islands, St. Abbs, Rathlin Island and Northern Ireland.
We regularly visit the Sound of Mull and dive the wrecks there, some of which are regarded as amongst the best wreck dives in Scotland and indeed the UK as a whole. In fact, during a one year period from 2005 to 2006 club members were able to dive 8 of the 10 wrecks listed in Rod Macdonald’s book “Dive Scotland’s Greatest Wrecks”. If we’d managed to fit in a trip to Orkney then we may have managed all 10!
Diving with BSAC500 isn’t just about wrecks though and we also enjoy our scenic dives where the photographers amongst us have more of an opportunity to get snap-happy. Some of us prefer to see what wildlife we can spot or just enjoy the view. Indeed, one of the great things about diving with the club is that you get to visit places and see sights that many people will never have the opportunity to enjoy! Whatever our members are into, we aim to cater for all tastes and don’t just stick to our favourites sites. We are always on the look-out for new dive sites and new locations where me might plan an expedition.
We’re a friendly bunch and the social side of our dive outings is just as important as the diving itself. The availability of a good location for ‘de-briefing’ after a days diving is always one of the primary considerations when planning an expedition!.
