Links
Here are a few links to web pages we find useful for dive planning, for information on good dive sites and also links to the websites of some good friends of the dive club.
The British Sub Aqua Club – the world’s biggest diving club, of which BSAC500 is a very important number!
EasyTide
The Admiralty’s free tide prediction site, giving you free tide predictions up to seven days in advance for a huge number of locations around the U.K.
BBC Weather – If it’s blowing a gale it’s not safe to set to sea and go for a plop. BBC Weather is a good place to check up on the prevailing weather.
The Met Office – is another good place to check.
Catterline- The Catterline Community Website – Though small, Catterline is a vibrant community and the Dive Club continues to enjoy good relations with it. In fact once a year, during the summer months, diving activity ceases completely so that a small group of dedicated lunactics can attempt to break the world land-speed record on a deathtrap constructed in a shed and not from any space-age materials! The Catterline Cartie Challenge!
The Creel Inn – Great food, an excellent selection of ales and great service too – we’ve even been known to pop in ourselves from time to time
– be sure to call in past The Creel when you get a chance.
www.glentrailhouse.com – Glentrail House – the homepage of a good friend of the dive club.
Puffin Dive Centre – diving out of Oban? The scene of our first weekend dive trip of the year for our novices, with excellent facilities and a starting point for some great dive sites on the west coast.
Lochaline Dive Centre Right on the doorstep of some of the best wreck diving that Scotland has to offer, with the facilities and service that keep us coming back year after year.
Moray Diving – Bill Ruck’s boat ‘Top Cat’ – familiar to anyone who’s dived the wrecks of the Moray Firth and sampled those curried tatties!
Fowlsheugh – The RSPB Bird Reserve below which we dive at Crawton.
